How much does a South Asian wedding cost in Toronto in 2026?

Toronto runs the GTA premium tier. A South Asian wedding in downtown Toronto costs 25-40% more than the same event in Brampton or Mississauga — but for many couples the trade-off (waterfront views, luxury hotels, walkable photos) is worth the spread. Here's what 2026 Toronto-specific pricing actually looks like.

01The Toronto premium — quantified

Toronto is roughly 25-40% more expensive than Brampton for an equivalent wedding. The premium concentrates in three places:

1. Venue. A Brampton banquet hall renting at $12K becomes a $20-25K Toronto hotel ballroom. Liberty Grand or Four Seasons hits $35-50K just for the space.

2. In-house catering. Toronto hotels mandate in-house catering at $150-275 per head. Brampton banquet halls allow outside catering at $55-85/head. For 300 guests, this is a $25-50K swing on food alone.

3. Service fees. Toronto hotels add 18-22% service fee on top of food + venue. Banquet halls usually don't. On a $80K hotel reception, that's $14-18K in fees.

03Where Toronto saves vs Brampton

Three places Toronto can actually be cheaper:

1. Smaller boutique weddings. A 100-guest wedding at a Toronto restaurant or boutique venue can run $40-60K total — cheaper than a 300-guest banquet hall in Brampton ($80K+).

2. Photography logistics. Toronto-based photographers don't charge travel fees for Toronto weddings. Brampton-based or Mississauga-based photographers add $300-800 to come downtown.

3. Out-of-town family. Toronto hotels for guests vs Brampton hotels — Toronto wins on accessibility (subway, GO train, walkable from Union Station), even at slightly higher per-night cost.

§ Frequently asked

Can I have a 500-guest wedding in Toronto for under $150K?

Tight but doable. Skip the downtown hotels (their per-head + service fees alone burn the budget). Look at Liberty Grand, Pearson Convention Centre Toronto, or Rebel Toronto. Bring outside catering where allowed ($85-110/head halal). Cut decor to $20K, photo+video to $9K. The math works at $135-145K all-in for 500 guests.

Is Liberty Grand worth the premium?

For an iconic Toronto wedding with multiple halls (ceremony, reception, after-party in different rooms), yes — there's nothing else like it in the GTA. For a single reception of 200-300 guests, you'll get more bang at a Brampton or Mississauga hall and have more catering flexibility.

Do downtown Toronto venues allow Indian weddings with baraat?

Most do, but with restrictions. Liberty Grand handles baraats well (large outdoor entry area). Hotels like the Four Seasons handle baraats at the front entrance — coordinate with the venue weeks in advance for any street-level processions. Smaller boutique restaurants usually can't accommodate horse + dhol.

How early do I need to book Toronto venues?

14-18 months for peak Saturdays at Liberty Grand, hotels, or unique waterfront spaces. The Four Seasons books a year out for Saturdays. Off-peak (November-March, Friday/Sunday) you can sometimes book 6-9 months ahead.
