§ Terms

The contract, in 400 words.

The agreement between you and Melaa. No 14-page PDF. No “whereas”s. Eleven short sections, written so a real person can read them.

§ 01

What Melaa is

Melaa is a directory of South Asian wedding vendors in the Greater Toronto Area, operated by Melaa Co. (hello@melaa.ca), based in Brampton, Ontario. These terms are the contract between you and Melaa when you use the site.

§ 02

Two kinds of accounts

Family accounts (free) — for people planning a wedding. You can browse, shortlist, send wishlists, leave reviews.

Vendor accounts (free) — for businesses listed on Melaa. Listing costs nothing; a flat referral fee applies only to bookings that come from a Melaa concierge introduction (agreed in writing before the introduction is sent).

§ 03

What you agree to do

  • Use Melaa for genuine wedding planning or a genuine vendor business — not for scraping, spam, or fake listings.
  • Be truthful in everything you submit (wishlists, reviews, vendor profiles, contact forms).
  • Respect vendors: if you don't want their services, just don't reply. No abuse, no harassment.
  • Respect families: claimed vendors on Melaa aim for 24-hour reply windows and polite communication. If you can't commit to that, please don't claim the listing.
  • Respect other vendors: no fake reviews, no asking friends to review, no bribing for a rating.
§ 04

Vendor payments

  • Listing is free. There is no subscription; the previous $49/month plan was retired in June 2026 before any vendor was billed.
  • Concierge referral fee: when Melaa introduces a couple to you through the concierge and they book you, you owe the flat fee agreed in writing before that introduction was sent. No booking, no fee.
  • You can delist anytime by emailing vendors@melaa.ca; only fees for already-booked introductions survive delisting.
  • Fee terms may change with 30 days’ notice, and never retroactively.
§ 05

What Melaa promises

  • We verify vendor information to the best of our ability but don\u2019t guarantee outcomes.
  • We reply to every support inquiry — usually within 24 hours.
  • We never sell your data. We never auction leads.
  • We will not rank by who pays most. Featured badges are labeled explicitly.
  • If we add new paid features, existing vendors on the founding rate keep their rate.
§ 06

What Melaa does NOT promise

  • We don't guarantee that any specific vendor will reply to your wishlist (though the vast majority do within 24 hours).
  • We don't guarantee that the vendor you hire will show up on time, do a good job, or be insured. Do your own due diligence. We provide credentials, but the contract is between you and the vendor.
  • We don't guarantee 100% uptime. Servers go down sometimes.
  • We don't guarantee specific search rankings or page-one placement for vendors.
§ 07

Disputes between you and a vendor

Melaa is not a party to contracts you sign with vendors. If you have a dispute, work it out between yourselves first. We\u2019ll mediate in good faith if asked — email hello@melaa.ca — but the ultimate responsibility is between the two parties who signed the contract.

§ 08

Intellectual property

Everything on melaa.ca — the code, the design system, the editorial copy, the documentary short at /the-script, the ceremony taxonomy, the photography treatment — is the proprietary work of Melaa Co. See the press kit for usage rights. See the LICENSE file in the public source for the full legal claim.

Vendor-submitted content (photos, descriptions, reviews) belongs to the vendor or reviewer who submitted it. We have a license to display it as part of the directory.

§ 09

Termination

You can delete your account anytime from the dashboard or by emailing support.

We can suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms (fraud, abuse, fake listings, spam). We\u2019ll email you first if at all possible and invite you to fix it before action.

§ 10

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada. Any legal dispute that can\u2019t be resolved between us will be heard in Ontario courts.

§ 11

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we\u2019ll email active accounts and post a dated notice at the top of this page for 60 days. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
