How far in advance should I book this vendor?

Most South Asian wedding vendors in the GTA book 6–12 months ahead for peak season (May–September). Specialty roles (popular priests, in-demand DJs, signature decorators, venues) can be 12–18 months. The earlier you secure the date, the better your odds — peak weekends close fast.

Is a deposit or retainer required?

Almost every vendor takes a non-refundable retainer to hold the date — typically 25–50% of the total. Some venues require milestone payments (book / 90 days out / final). Always confirm what the retainer holds (a date, a package, a head count) and whether it converts to credit if you reschedule.

Do they offer packages, or is everything custom?

Photographers, MUAs, mehndi artists, and DJs usually publish tiered packages by hours of coverage or number of looks. Caterers, decorators, and venues are typically custom — built on guest count, menu, and event flow. Ask for a written line-item quote either way so you can compare apples to apples.

Can I see references from real South Asian weddings?

Yes — and you should. Ask for two or three couple references whose events were similar in size and style to yours. Review the vendor on Melaa once your event wraps so the next family has the receipts you wished you had.

What if I have to reschedule or cancel?

Rescheduling is usually fine if the vendor has the new date open and you give enough notice. Cancellations are where contracts vary widely — anywhere from "retainer forfeit" to "full balance owed within 90 days." Read the contract before signing, and if anything is unclear, ask in writing.

Champagne Music is a Toronto-and-Vancouver live music and DJ company performing for weddings, corporate events and parties since 2022. Genre coverage spans Top 40, Motown, soul, funk, disco, jazz and gospel for ceremony, cocktail and reception sets across multicultural weddings.
